Cummings wrote a couple novels, some plays, but is best known for his poems. E.E. Cummings changed the peoples approach to literature by utilizing the sporadic use of punctuation. As a child E.E. Cummings was encouraged by his family to write poems which stemmed his poetic career. Later, when in his twenties, war came and Cummings enlisted and was given the job to drive an ambulance. After the war was over he wrote a collection of poems called "Tulips and Chimneys" which built his reputation in the writing world.
His education consisted of attending college at Harvard University. While there he contributed to the school's literary journal, "Harvard Monthly." This helped him grow as a writer. Cummings graduated in 1915 with degrees in Greek & English literature. In the 1920s and 1930s E.E. Cummings spent his time travelling the world. With his poems, he didn't have a filter in what he included. He also didn't care what others thought of his poems which led to controversy among readers.
E.E. Cummings was briefly married twice before unofficially marrying Marion Morehouse. In New York, Cummings and Morehouse lived there until his death in 1962 from a stroke.
